Press Release:

Raleigh, N.C.     Earlier today, Roy Cooper released yet another TV ad that is meant to deliberately mislead the people of North Carolina. In the ad filmed in his home county, Roy Cooper tries to convince voters that North Carolina is losing jobs.

The only problem? North Carolina is adding jobs, including where Cooper's ad was filmed in Nash and Edgecombe counties. And only hours after releasing his false ad, Roy Cooper personally attended and applauded Governor McCrory's announcement of CSX's new intermodal terminal facility in Rocky Mount and the creation of 1,500 new jobs - only a few miles from where his television ad was filmed.

"The very same day Roy Cooper launches an ad trying to make people believe North Carolina is losing jobs, Roy Cooper attended an event in his hometown where Governor McCrory announced 1,500 new jobs," said Russell Peck, Governor McCrory's campaign manager. "Roy Cooper lied about his opponents in false TV ads before when the facts aren't on his side, and he's clearly doing it again in his race for governor."

The McCrory Campaign released a video, "Roy Cooper's Honesty Problem," in response to Roy Cooper's new ad. The video splices Roy Cooper's TV ad with footage from the jobs announcement Cooper personally attended today when Governor McCrory announced a new intermodal terminal which will bring thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars of investment to North Carolina.

Roy Cooper's latest ad claims North Carolina is losing jobs and teachers to other states. Neither are true:

North Carolina has added over 280,000 net new jobs since January 2013, including 25,000 net new jobs since March 2016. ("Local Area Unemployment Statistics," Labor & Economic Analysis, N.C. Department of Commerce, 6/17/2016)

Nash County has fewer unemployed, more jobs under Governor McCrory:
