Jennings Keith Askew | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Jennings Keith Askew, age 61, a resident of Washington, NC died Saturday July 23, 2016 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A celebration of Keith's life will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday July 26, 2016 at the Family Life Center of Old Ford Church of Christ. The celebration will be officiated by Thomas Hamilton.

    The family will receive friends at the celebration of life on Tuesday at the church and other times at the home.

    Mr. Keith was born in Hertford County on May 7, 1955 son of the late Robert Edward Askew and the late Addie Mae Mizelle Askew. He was a graduate of Ahoskie High School. On November 24, 1973 he married the former Averi Anne Turner who survives. Mr. Keith was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. Many would know and remember him as a market manager for Food Lion on John Small Ave. in Washington.

    Surviving along with Mr. Keith's wife: Averi of the home are two sons: Broden Askew and wife Lynnette of Wilmington and Robert Askew of Washington; four brothers: Bobby Askew of Greenville, Ronnie Askew and wife Sharon of Portsmouth, VA, Doug Askew and wife Laura of Greenville and Roger Askew and wife Stacy of Raleigh; a sister: Virginia Manning of Portsmouth, VA; four grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Julianna Askew, Annalyse Askew, Aaron Askew and Luke Jennings Askew and his mother-in-law: Jean Fisher of Washington. Mr. Keith was predeceased along with his parents by a brother: Steve Askew.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to Old Ford Church of Christ, 6040 US Hwy 17 North Washington, NC 27889.
