    Mrs. Betty Linton O'Neal, age 76, a resident of 403 Foreman Lane, Belhaven, died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at her home.

    Private services were held.

    Mrs. O'Neal was born in Bath, N.C. on November 7, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Billy Linton and Annie Jefferson Linton. Mrs. O'Neal was a retired seamstress with Belhaven Cleaners. After her retirement, she took care of her grandchildren. She was a member of the Belhaven Assembly of God Church. In her spare time, she loved to paint and sew.

    Mrs. O'Neal was married to Thomas Denton O'Neal, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1985.

    She is survived by two sons, Thomas D. "Tommy" O'Neal, Jr. and wife, Janet of Washington, Phillip O'Neal of the home; niece, Kathy Payne of Columbia; four grandchildren, (who called her "Mimi") Sydney O'Neal, Leah Payne, Andrew O'Neal, Shane Cannon; three brothers, Dallas Linton of Belhaven, George Linton of Bath, Wayne Linton of Columbia; and her faithful pet, Baby.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. O'Neal was preceded in death by daughter, Shannon O'Neal; a sister, Peggy Linton Smith; and three brothers, Clyde Linton, Jimmy Linton and Woodrow Linton.
