Governor McCrory Celebrates Unifi's REPREVE Grand Opening | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Press Release:

New Bottle Processing Center Will Add 87 New Jobs in Rockingham County

Reidsville, N.C. - Governor Pat McCrory celebrated the grand opening of Unifi's REPREVE Bottling Processing Centers in Reidsville and Yadkinville today, expansions which will bring 87 new jobs to North Carolina.

"This new high-tech facility in Rockingham County strengthens our position as the #1 state for manufacturing jobs in the southeast and one of the fastest growing economies in the nation," said Governor McCrory. "Manufacturing represents the best of what our state is about and today's announcement continues the Carolina Comeback."

In June, the governor announced that a $500,000 Rural Infrastructure Authority Grant had been awarded to Unifi to assist in the expansion, adding 80,000 square feet to the current facility. An additional $190,000 grant allowed the company to expand its textile manufacturing plant in Yadkinville.

Additionally, a Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $861,000 was awarded from the North Carolina Department of Commerce to the city of Reidsville to replace aged infrastructure, including a large sewer line.

When Governor McCrory entered office in January 2013, Rockingham County's unemployment rate was 11.7 percent. Under the governor's leadership, the current unemployment rate in the county is now 5.5 percent, and 300,000 new jobs have been added.
