    Mayo Allen Barber, age 78, a resident of 3228 Barber Rd. Jamesville, NC, died October 22, 2016 at his home.

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday October 26. 2016 at Alligood Church of God and will be officiated by Pastor Philip Jethro. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. David Barber Jr., Allen Waters, Keith Leggett, Brandon Barber, Justin Waters, and Rob Congleton will serve as pallbearers. Brian Barber will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

    Mr. Barber was born in Martin County on May 11, 1938 to the late Archie and Nellie Price Barber. On April 27, 1964 he married Theacher Louise Woolard who survives. He was the owner of Barber's Barber Shop on Main Street in Jamesville for 30 years.

    Survivors include his wife of 52 years Theacher Woolard Barber of the home, two daughters, Rachel Waters and husband J.J. of Pinetown, Donna Congleton and husband Rob of Ayden, four grandchildren, Brandi Whitley, Allen Waters, Charlotte Waters, Caroline Congleton, three great grandchildren, Nadia Whitley, Effy Whitley, Braelyn Whitley, three brothers, Dallas Barber and wife Barbara, Millard Barber, Tim Barber and wife Susan, and one sister Alice Williams and husband Robert all of Barber Road, Jamesville. He was preceded in death by a brother Garry Barber.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday October 25, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
