    Mr. Glenn Ervin Smith, Sr, age 77, a resident of 12th Street, Washington, NC died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Vidant Pitt Hospital.

    Glenn was born September 1, 1939 in Rowan County, NC to the late William Alfred "John" and Francis Ruth Ervin Smith. Glenn was a 1957 graduate of Landis High School and a 1961 graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. Glenn was married to Diane Woolard Smith at First Christian Church in Washington, NC in 1969 who survives.

    He was an auto and heavy truck sales person for Ashville International Truck Sales in Ashville, NC and later Fairway Ford in Greenville, SC until his retirement in 2005. He and his wife Diane were co-owners in Pamlico Rivers Antiques located in Historic Downtown Washington.

    He was a member of First Christian Church and was a past member of the Shriners Motorcycle Corp and a past volunteer Fireman with Boiling Springs Fire Department in Boiling Springs, SC. Glenn also served his country in the US Army Reserves from 1961 - 1964. In addition to his parents Glenn was predeceased by two brothers: Billy and Max Smith, his father in law, Frank Woolard and two brother in laws: Neil Woolard and Wayne Blanks.

    In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons: Glenn Ervin Smith, Jr (Molly) of Saint Petersburg, FL, and Franklin Woolard Smith (Tanya) of Tega Cay, SC. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Brendon, Dominic, Jackson, Katherine, and Maksim. Other survivors include his mother in law, Edna Woolard of Washington, NC, sister in law, Loretta Blanks and brother in law, Jeffrey Woolard (Kay) also of Washington, NC.

    A celebration of Glenn's life will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at First Christian Church of Washington, NC officiated by Reverend Jacob Kinds. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

    The family will also receive friends other times at the home, 120 West 12th Street, Washington, NC. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to First Christian Church, 307 East 3rd Street, Washington, NC 27889.
