On Monday, November 28th the newly appointed Beaufort County 300th Anniversary Committee met to begin its work planning to commemorate the formation of the County in 1712.

   On Monday, November 28th the newly appointed Beaufort County 300th Anniversary Committee met to begin its work planning to commemorate the formation of the County in 1712. The Committee is composed of Al Kutzing, Darnell Peed, Lynn Lewis, Claudia Alligood, Lloyd Balance, Helen Eckman, Wayland Whitley, Keith Hackney, Penny Sermons, Bill Rianhard, Catherine Glover, Al Klemm, Jerry Langley, and Tom Thompson. Elected Co-chairs were Lynn Lewis and Penny Sermons.

   In the near future several members of the Committee will be meeting with the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources in Raleigh to discuss potential plans for 2012. The next meeting of the 300th Anniversary Committee will be on Wednesday, December 14th at the Beaufort County Administrative Offices at 3:30pm. The public is invited to attend. The city council has only made two official acts as of February 16, 2026
While this afternoon’s update once again included increased probabilities of moderate to major impacts, it will likely be tomorrow before we receive specific accumulation details.
Government and its bureaucracy are not perfect, and never has been in this self-governed society, here at the local level, at our state level, and at our federal level, therefore, it is incumbent upon all elected politicians to seek a comfortable level of representation for our constituents.
Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

Has the local government acted responsibly and transparently?
Beaufort County Commissioners meet, and work by a majority vote to do the business of those constituents they purport to represent.
Waste, fraud, abuse and incompetence continue to govern county school budgets and decision making.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
We must vet, and elect those who will actually represent the people or we will be stuck with the same mess we have now.
