    Ann Harrell Hill 82, of 202 Washington Harbor, Washington, died Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday at St. Peters Episcopal Church (Washington) with Jim Reed Officiating. Visitation will be at Ann's home, 202 Washington Harbor, Washington NC, 27889 from 5-8pm on Tuesday January 31.

    Ann was born in Chocowinity, NC, the daughter of the late Otha and Elizabeth Taylor. Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Bess Harrell Chandler of Washington NC; grandsons Joshua and Matthew Chandler, granddaughter Brittany Harrell, step daughter Marcy Dunn, step son John Hill, step grandchildren Kevin (Debbie) Clancy, Christine Henderson, Laura (Bryon) Muhlenbruch, Katie Gough, Avery Macintosh, and step grandchildren Kylee Clancy, James Henderson, Brinn Muhlenbruch,

    Preceded in death by her parents, sister Lib Hill, husband of 29 years and father of her children Jonas Harrell, second husband Captain John C. Hill, son Britt Harrell, step daughter Holly Hill.

    Ann graduated from East Carolina University with a Social Work degree. Taught at Chocowinity High School (CHS) before accepting a social work position at Beaufort County Department of Social Service. Her leadership qualities were quickly noticed and she was appointed as director of social services. A position she held for over 20 years. Following retirement from Beaufort County Ann worked for the department of Health and Human Services NC. Ann a life long Episcopalian, was an active member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. She sang in the choir, was the coordinator of prayer teams and a lay Eucharistic minister. While serving on the vesture Ann was honored to serve as the first female Sr. Warden.

    Over the past year Ann was a volunteer at Ruth's House in keeping with her life long work in human services. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her faith was always evident to others even through her last moments.
