    Miss Shirley Gray Cox, 78, a resident of Bath, NC died Saturday April 15, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday April 19, 2017 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Rev. Merritt Watson. Pallbearers will be Christopher Lewis and James Lewis, both grand nephews, and Rodney Bowen, Earl Barber, Starley Stell and Leon Wingate.

    The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Miss Cox's sister, Nina Lewis, located at 116 South King Street, Bath.

    Miss Cox was born in Beaufort County on April 11, 1939 daughter of the late Mose Allen Cox and the late Kattie Mae Jones Cox. She was a graduate of Bath High School where she played on the basketball team. Miss Cox was a homemaker and care giver for her parents. She was a member of Bath Christian Church where she was a former choir member.

    Survivors include two sisters: Nina Cox Lewis of Bath and Dorothy Cox Koonce of Ayden; several nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. Miss Cox was predeceased by a sister: Irene Foster.
