    William Edward Kidd, Jr., "Bill Ed", 62, died April 18, 2017 following a brief illness.

    Bill Ed was born April 4, 1955 in Washington, NC to Dr. William Edward Kidd, Sr. and Hester Anne Bizzell Kidd. He was preceded in death by his father.

    He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Jane Surles Kidd; his beloved daughter, Anne Rowland Kidd; his mother; his brother, Henry Matthews Kidd, and wife, Amanda Wester Kidd; his nephews, Henry Matthews Kidd, Jr. and William Bryan Kidd; and his sweet dog, Kiddo.

    Bill Ed graduated from Virginia Episcopal School in 1973 and North Carolina State University in 1977. He was the co-owner of Kidd Brothers Plumbing Company until 2014.

    Bill Ed was a lover of the water and sports such as kayaking and boating, but especially surfing. He spent so much of his time relaxing by the water. Bill Ed was a passionate environmentalist and found such comfort amidst nature. He was an enthusiastic lover of the arts. Bill Ed had a wonderful sense of humor and was always cracking jokes. His laugh and smile will forever be missed.

    Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Washington, Washington, NC, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation to follow at 281 Riverside Road, Washington, NC 27889.

    In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Sound Rivers, P.O. Box 1854, Washington, NC 27889 or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Cary, NC 27513.

Bill Ed was a good friend from my youth, making this one obituary especially difficult for me to process.
