    Mrs. Charmaine Pitou "Monk" Wheeler, age 71, a resident of Bath, died Tuesday May 9, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center.

    Memorial services will be 11:00 am Tuesday June 6, 2017 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath and will be conducted by The Rev. Diane Tomlinson.

    Mrs. Wheeler was born March 24, 1946 in Onondaga New York to the late Norman Stewart Pitou and Julia Polchlepek Pitou. On October 31, 1998 she married David Lester Wheeler who survives. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, O'Henry Book Club and Bath Historic Garden Club.

    Survivors include her husband, David Lester Wheeler of the home; one daughter, Pamela Collins of Hanover, PA; two sons, Shawn Collins and wife Raquel of Brooklet, GA, Steven Collins and wife Susan of Clarksville, TN; two step daughters, Jennifer Robinson and husband John of Windham, ME, Karen Witherbee and husband Herman of Nassau, NY; one step son, Eric Wheeler and wife Carole of Falmouth, MA; one brother, Stewart Pitou and wife Kate of Lexington, OH; one sister, Ginny Carpenter and husband Hal of Marlborough, MA; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

    In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 257, Bath, NC 27808.
