Amy Kelley Beck, of 25 E. River Acres Road, Washington, passed away early on Dec. 28, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

    Amy Kelley Beck, of 25 E. River Acres Road, Washington, passed away early on Dec. 28, 2011, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 21, 1922, the daughter of Edward and Jesse Kelley, and grew up in Westwood, N.J.

    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at the First Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Moore.

    Following high school, she enjoyed working in New York City and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, serving in Camp Lejeune and Camp Pendleton, Calif. Following the war, she returned home to marry her sweetheart, Edward Beck, and begin a family. They lived in numerous cities during his career and she made lasting friendships wherever she went. She was always ready for a new adventure. She worked at Carolina Biological Supply in Burlington, and Sedgefield in Stone Mountain, Ga. She was a Cub Scout leader, a Welcome Wagon Hostess, an artist, a musician, an avid collector of stamps and coins, and was the treasurer of the Washington Women's Club. Most recently she enjoyed riding her three-wheeled bike. She was a fun, loving, and supportive mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her sisters Barbara, Jean, and twin sister Byrne.

    She is survived by her daughter Robin McCook (David); her son Edward Jr. (Alina); her son Bruce (Walter Maas); four grandchildren, Bradford and Quinton Cumston, and Kelsey and Andrea Beck (Josh Bradford); a great-granddaughter, Lucia Bradford; her sister-in-law Muriel Clark, and many nieces and nephews.

    The family wishes to thank the staff of Pitt County Memorial Hospital and the Heart Center for their kind and professional support.

    The family will receive friends following the service at the church and other times at the home.
