Governor Cooper Announces 44 New Jobs in Iredell County | Eastern NC Now

TrueLearn will move headquarters to Mooresville

    RALEIGH: TrueLearn, LLC plans to create 44 new jobs and move its headquarters and operations to Iredell County, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company works with many of the leading medical schools and residency programs in the country to help young physicians achieve board certification in various specialties of medicine. The company is expanding its services to new fields within health care and plans to invest $435,000 over five years in Mooresville.

    "North Carolina is uniquely suited for innovative, knowledge-based companies like TrueLearn, and our workforce is ready to fill these technology and data science jobs," said Governor Cooper.

    TrueLearn is a leader in online test preparation, offering learning tools designed to prepare physicians and health care professionals for their licensure exams. The company uses predictive models that adapt to the individual to advance learning, enhance retention and improve performance.

    "Our higher education system and competitive technology and health care industries attracted TrueLearn to North Carolina," said N.C. Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland. "I know TrueLearn will benefit from and add to the innovation happening in health care, education and technology here in our state."

    While compensation will vary by position, average salaries for the new jobs are expected to be $101,818. Iredell County's current average annual wage is $47,705.

"To achieve this, we work with some of the best minds in the education technology community. After a great run in Pittsburgh, we are thrilled to move our headquarters to the Charlotte, N.C. area as the company enters into a new phase in its growth cycle, and we are grateful for the support we have received from the community."

    A performance-based grant of $50,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help facilitate TrueLearn's move to Iredell County. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All One NC grants require a matching grant from local governments, and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.

    "TrueLearn will find itself at home in Mooresville," said Mooresville's N.C. Representative John A. Fraley. "Our community's health care, software and education professionals will provide an environment and workforce well-suited for TrueLearn's mission."

    In addition to North Carolina Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, other key partners in the project include the N.C. General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, the Town of Mooresville, Iredell County, and the Mooresville South Iredell Economic Development Corporation.
