    Mrs. Ysobel Morton DuPree Litchfield, age 92, a resident of Washington, NC, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2017.

    A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday September 16, 2017 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be officiated by Father Jim Reed.

    Mrs. Litchfield was a beautiful, intelligent, strong, thoughtful woman, wife, and mother. She felt a very strong connection with community and spent many years volunteering with PTA, Brown Library, Blood Bank or anywhere she felt she could make a difference. Mrs. Litchfield had a passion for local history and was a practicing Genealogist, even teaching genealogy at Beaufort Community College. She was always proud to have been a contributor to the wonderful collection of Beaufort County History, Washington on the Pamlico. She served as a member of the Washington City School Board for many years. Mrs. Litchfield was born September 1, 1925 in Miami, FL, the middle daughter of Thomas O'Hagan and Isabel Morton DuPree. She was a graduate of Florida State University, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated with a BS degree in Business Administration and a minor in Voice. She loved her participation in DAR, Colonial Dames, Huguenots and Mayflower societies and Book Club. She married Guy Gibson Campbell Jr. in 1948 and was blessed with her son. On June 28th, 1958, she married Lt. Col John Stockard Litchfield of Washington, North Carolina and was blessed with two daughters.

    She is survived by her son, Guy Gibson Campbell III and wife Pam of Port Clinton, OH, two daughters, Pamela DuPree Litchfield and husband L.P. Hitzigrath of Raleigh, Cathy Bonner Litchfield Tyburski and husband Robert of Grimesland, three granddaughters, Bonner Tyburski Craft of Greenville, Sarah Campbell of Port Clinton OH, Penelope Rose Williams of Raleigh, three grandsons, Robert Joseph Tyburski of Grimesland, John Clifton Belcher, Derrick Nathanial Belcher, both of Raleigh, and her great grandson Roman Bonner Craft.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross for Hurricane Relief, or charities for lung and breast cancer, and Alzheimer's.
