Mrs. Juliana Mukwewa Chigavazira | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Juliana Mukwewa Chigavazira, age 39, a resident of 202 N. Eden Drive, Smallwood, Washington, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

    A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wesley Hall at the First United Methodist Church in Washington, conducted by Pastor Danny Allen and Rev. John Gumbo. Mrs. Chigavazira will be buried in Harare, Zimbabwe at a later date.

    Mrs. Chigavazira was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on Dec. 15, 1972. She was the daughter of Priscilla Sithole Mukwewa and the late Anslen Mukwewa. Mrs. Chigavazira was a physical therapist. She had worked in several long term care facilities including The Carrollton in Williamston and Plumblee Nursing Home in Plymouth.

    Mrs. Chigavazira was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Washington Women's Bible Study. She participated in the Hand in Hand support group at John Cotten Tayloe School. In her spare time, Mrs. Chigavazira enjoyed interior decorating, gardening and playing tennis.

    On March 23, 1996, she married Patrick Chigavazira, who survives.

    Surviving with her husband are her twin sons, Tadiwa Micah Chigavazira and Anashe Isaiah Chigavazira both of the home; her mother, Priscilla Sithole Mukwewa of Zimbabwe; her brother, Dr. Tongai Mukwewa of Zimbabwe; her sister, Jennifer Mukwewa Shava of Zimbabwe; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Runyemba of Zimbabwe.

    The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.
