Two Charged with Assault with Deadly Weapon | Eastern NC Now

    On November 15, 2017 at about 6:00 PM Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of an assault on the Hodges Road in Chocowinity NC. Upon arrival Deputies found the victim, a 51 yr. old Chocowinity resident in need of medical attention. Emergency Medical personnel also responded to treat the victim.

    After taking statements from the victim and a witness, Deputies learned the victim was assaulted with an undetermined weapon. The assault stemmed from words the victim had with a family member of the 2 suspects sometime last week. The victim told Deputies after he was knocked to the ground by one of the suspects, he was kicked by the other while on the ground.

    As a result of their investigation Beaufort County Deputies charged, John Aaron Matthew Jenkins, age 22 of Grimesland with one count each of Felony Assault With a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury. The second suspect, John Curtis Jenkins Jr, age 29, of Chocowinity, was charged with one count of Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.

    Both suspect were served with the arrest warrants on November 16, 2017. John Aaron Matthew Jenkins was released on a $20,000.00 secured bond. John Curtis Jenkins Jr. was released on a $15,000.00 secured bond.

On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.

On December 16 th the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Response Team along with officers from the Washington Police Department joined forces to arrest a subject wanted in Beaufort and Pitt County for ten outstanding warrants that included multiple felony charges.
