    Mrs. Annie Ruth Gurganus Waterfield, age 89, died Wednesday morning November 15, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center.

    A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday November 18, 2017 at Trinity Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jerry Smith.

    Mrs. Waterfield was born in Beaufort County on December 13, 1927, daughter of the late Plum Durant Gurganus and Allie Bell Toler Gurganus. In February, 1958, she married Avery Washington Waterfield who preceded her in death on February 27, 1974.

    She is survived by her son: Henry O. Gurganus and wife Darlene of Washington; her granddaughters: Renee Taylor and husband Robbie of Washington and Nicole Avery and husband David of Washington and her great grandchildren: Tyler Buck, Allie Daniels, Erin Taylor, Davie Avery and Erica Avery. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Henry Odell Gurganus.
