    Mr. Lonnie Earl Adams, age 81, a resident of Chocowinity, NC died Saturday January 6, 2018 at his home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 9, 2018 at the Adams Family Cemetery located at 2433 Gray Road, Chocowinity. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Crisp, David Elks, Charlie Elks, Billy Adams, Jr. and Jaden Spain.

    The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the cemetery on Tuesday and other times at the home.

    Mr. Adams was born in Beaufort County on June 22, 1936 son of the late Lonnie Wesley Adams and the late Oliva Mae Hodges Adams Hill. He attended Old Ford School. On January 6, 1961, he married the former Laura Jane Miller who survives. Mr. Adams was a former member of Chocowinity Volunteer Fire Department and served as treasurer on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the former Chocowinity Ruritan Club. Mr. Adams was the owner/operator of Adams Excavating Contractor until his retirement in 2012.

    Surviving along with his wife Laura Jane of the home are two daughters: Elizabeth Ann Adams-Ange of Chocowinity and Debora A. Davenport (Doug) of Kitty Hawk; a brother: Bobby Adams (Diane) of Chocowinity five sisters: Frances Bennett (Gene) of Williamston, Margaret Bennett of Williamston, Jean Morris of Tarboro, Rhonda Adams of Chocowinity and Vicki Adams of Chocowinity; two grandchildren: Amie Lewis of Chocowinity and Lindsey L. Temple (Landen) of Bath; three great grandchildren: Jaden Spain, Alex Spain and Brody Temple and his pride and joy Bella.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions be made to Chocowinity Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 145, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
