RALEIGH: InterMarket Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of Point of Purchase displays and recycling bins, has selected Beaufort County for its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, creating 57 jobs over three years, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The company will locate operations in Washington, NC and invest nearly $2.7 million.

"North Carolina is a national leader for manufacturing and we're excited to welcome a new manufacturer to put down roots in our state," Governor Cooper said. "Companies like InterMarket Technology are attracted to our friendly business climate and skilled workforce, and we're striving to make our workforce even stronger so we can keep bringing good jobs to North Carolina."

Founded in 1995, InterMarket Technology, Inc. (IMT) designs and manufactures Point of Purchase displays for Fortune 500 consumer goods companies and retail store chains. IMT is known for its market leading position in convenience, grocery and dollar stores providing indoor and outdoor merchandising equipment for companies such as Nestle, Coke, Pepsi, Clorox, Dollar General and Speedway.

Additionally, IMT produces unique recycling and donation bins distributed nationally to schools, municipalities, states and the federal government through its sister company Recyclingbin.com.

"We look forward to tapping into the many resources North Carolina has to offer," said Scott R. Gardner, CEO and Founder of IMT. "We are planning on creating new jobs for operations and to introduce and expand a variety of products made of wood, steel and plastic."

"North Carolina is the number one manufacturing state in the Southeast," said North Carolina Commerce Secretary Anthony M. Copeland. "More than 464,000 people work in manufacturing positions in our state, and that workforce is 42% more productive when compared to the nation."

The North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. (EDPNC) were instrumental in supporting the company's expansion decision.

The new jobs will bring a yearly payroll impact of $1.7 million to the local economy.

A performance-based grant of $50,000 from the One North Carolina Fund will help facilitate InterMarket Technology's relocation to North Carolina. The One N.C. Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All One NC grants require a matching grant from local governments and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.

"It's good to see a new employer locate in our area," said N.C. Senator Bill Cook. "Our community appreciates this new partnership with a growing company like InterMarket Technology."

"We appreciate the commitment that InterMarket Technology has made to our community," said N.C. Representative Beverly Boswell. "I am proud of the teamwork from many local, regional, and statewide partners that have supported the company as it made this decision."

In addition to North Carolina Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, other key partners in the project include the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, NCWorks, ElectriCities, Beaufort County Community College, Beaufort County Schools, the Beaufort County Commissioners, the City of Washington Council, Beaufort County Economic Development Allies, and the Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce.
