    Mr. Floyd McLean Carroll, Jr., age 70, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Wednesday March 28, 2018 at his home.

    The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday March 31, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home. No memorial service is scheduled at this time.

    Mr. Carroll was born in Pitt County on July 2, 1947 son of the late Floyd McLean Carroll and the late Mildred Louise Ramsey Carroll. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Airforce and completed two tours in Vietnam. He volunteered at New Bern Fire Department for fourteen years as a firefighter and E.M.T. On May 22, 2004 he married the former Sylvia Jean Carpenter who survives. Mr. Carroll loved to fish, taking pictures, watching wildlife, carving and singing. One of his favorite songs was Red Sovine and enjoyed music by Johnny Cash and Elvis.

    Surviving along with his wife Sylvia of the home are two children: Melissa Carroll Willis and husband Bobby of Cove City and Shaun McLean Carroll and Fiancée Meressa Winfield of Washington; three step children: Lisa Strickland and husband Tony of Apex, Johnny Michael Bradley and wife Lisa of Gaston and Shannon Danielle Bradley and husband Jason of Roanoke Rapids; three sisters: Virginia Morton and husband Randy of Virginia, Vickie Spivey and husband Walter of Greenville and Kathy Harris and husband William of Washington; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carroll was predeceased along with his parents by a brother: Glenn Carroll.
