    Gerritje Dekker "Gerda" Sterrenberg, 87, died Thursday May 3, 2018 at home.

    Mrs. Sterrenberg was born in Goudswaard, The Netherlands, on March 24, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Arie Dekker and Geertrui Groenenberg Dekker. She was preceded in death by her husband Pieter Sterrenberg.

    Surviving are her children, Trudy Respess (the late Rhonda Berl Respess) of Terra Ceia, Patsy Jones (husband, Colin) of Winton, Tina Quidley (husband, Glenn) of Belhaven, Peter (wife, Barbara) of Bath, Adrienne Lee (husband, Mike) of Pinnacle, and Christopher (wife, Judi) of Free Union. Grandchildren include, Stacy Jones (husband, Chris) of Terra Ceia, Macon Respess (wife, Mary Beth) of Terra Ceia, King Jones (wife, Casey) of Matthews, Martina Jones of Greenville, Camille Bradley (husband, Clark) of Greenville, Ryan Sterrenberg of Bath, Floyd Lewis of Columbia, SC, Chase Sterrenberg (wife, Myra) of Washington, Tori Sterrenberg of Washington, Naomi Lee of Haslington, England, Allan Lee of Marion, VA, Gavin Sterrenberg of Greenville, Alex Sterrenberg of Free Union, and six great grandchildren, Kasey and Charlie Jones, Bowen Respess, Parker and Lillian Jones, and Waylen Sterrenberg.

    A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 7th at Covenant United Reformed Church. Interment will be at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington.

    The family wishes to express gratitude to caregivers Elizabeth Mitchell, Teresa Taylor, Amanda Lewis, Patty McAllister, Brandi Nobles, Kimberly Sowers and Velva Thompson for the loving gentle care they gave Mrs. Sterrenberg.
