Press release:

    Tickets on sale now!

(Washington, NC) - Tickets are now on sale for the 5th Shaggin' for a Cause! The event will be held on March 17th, 2012 at the Washington Civic Center. We are excited to have Jim Quick & Coastline as our featured entertainment and what a great time of year - St. Patrick's Day - to come together for a fun event that raises money for a great cause.

Proceeds from the event benefit The Shepard Cancer Foundation whose mission is to financially support and promote the Cancer Center in its efforts to improve the mind, body and spirit of cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.

The first Shaggin' for a Cause began in 2007 when the nurses of the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center saw patients and their families struggling financially because of their cancer diagnosis. Our goal was to assist patients whose treatment was in jeopardy by establishing a Patient Assistance Fund. With your generous contributions over the years, we have also been able to incorporate our complementary therapies programs. Our programs help reduce stress and tension, provide an outlet to express personal struggles with cancer, teach coping strategies, and educate about cancer diagnosis and prevention.

Tickets for the event are reasonably priced at $25 per person and can be purchased at the Marion L Shepard Cancer Center and Vidant Wellness Center (formerly Lifestyles). There will be a cash bar, heavy hors d'oeurvres and a silent and live auction.
