    Mrs. Nellie Gray Hodges Boyd, age 89, a resident of Chocowinity, died Friday, August 17, 2018 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

    Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Joe Moore Cemetery, Highway 33 East, Chocowinity, conducted by Pastor Henry Horne. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

    Mrs. Boyd was born in Pitt County on September 3, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Uriah Hodges and Flora Renee Brame Hodges. Mrs. Boyd worked in the Canteen at Beaufort County Hospital for 30 years. She served as manager several times. In addition to her duties at the hospital, Mrs. Boyd was a caretaker for her daughter and husband. She was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In her spare time, Mrs. Boyd enjoyed sewing and making crafts.

    On December 24, 1948, she married Joseph Richard Boyd, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1989.

    Ms. Boyd is survived by her daughter, Janet Boyd Pollard of the home; granddaughter, Karen Elizabeth Pollard Brown of the home; son in law, Nathan Alan Brown of the home; great grandson, Zachary Ryan Brown of the home; sister in law, Barbara Hodges of Chocowinity and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by a daughter, Sondra "Sandy" Lynn Boyd Morlock; brother, Wilma Lee Hodges and sister, Annie Myrtle Hodges Hardee.
