Brenda Barber Hilton | Eastern NC Now

    Ms. Brenda Barber Hilton, age 63, a resident of Chocowinity died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    A celebration of her life will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Ben Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Bea Barber, David Barber, Mark Barber, Rex Barber, Thurman Jackson and Matthew Styms will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday, March 9, 2012 at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, NC.

    Ms. Hilton was born on February 5, 1949 in Martin County daughter of the late Elbert and Idell Barber. After graduation from high school she attended Beaufort County Community College and earned her degree as a LPN. Brenda worked as a nurse at Ridgewood Manor for 25 years. She was married to Avery Von Hilton who preceded her in death in 2008. She attended Whitehouse Assembly of God and was a member of the National Board of Nursing.

    Brenda is survived by her daughter, Melissa Hilton Adams of Chocowinity, her brother, Earl Barber of Washington, her sister, Lela Styons of Jamesville, her grandchildren, Courtney Hodges of Washington and Bailey Adams of Chocowinity and her fiancé Donnie H. Bell, Jr. of Chocowinity.

    In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Colen and Joe Barber. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brenda's honor to Whitehouse Assembly of God, Jamesville, NC 27846.
