    Mrs. Elna Virginia Jordan Carawan, age 85, a resident of 1391 Biggs Road, Pinetown, NC died Thursday February 7, 2019 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 9, 2019 at St. Clair's Church of Christ officiated by Craig Hagan. Burial will follow in the Jordan Family Cemetery of Pinetown. Randy Joe Carawan, Jr., Adam S. Carawan, Justin D. Adams, Derick T. Lewis, Fred Tetterton and Octavus Wallace will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Overton, David Lewis, Daniel Adams, Jr. and Justin Modlin.

    The family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday February 9, 2019 at the church.

    Mrs. Carawan was born in Beaufort County on November 8, 1933 daughter of the late John William Jordan, Jr. and the late Malissa Alice Bell Jordan. She was a 1952 graduate of Bath High School. On April 21, 1956 she married William Joseph "Bill Joe" Carawan who survives. Mrs. Carawan was a mom, granny and homemaker who lived most of her life in Beaufort County other than time traveling with her military husband. She was a member of St. Clair's Church of Christ, Woodman of the World and taught Sunday school at Pinetown Church of Christ.

    Surviving along with her husband "Bill Joe" of the home are two sons: Randy Joe Carawan, Sr. (Sylvia) and Ricky Lane Carawan (Penny) all of Pinetown; two daughters: Debra Carawan Adams and Elna Carawan Lewis (David) all of Bath; a sister: Jane Harris of Washington; a sister-in-law: Gloria Guzman of Charlotte; seven grandchildren: Susan Overton (Brad), Crystal Modlin (Justin) Randy Carawan, Jr. (Joy) all of Bath, Adam Carawan of Greenville, Justin Adams of Washington, Sierra Adams and Derick Lewis both of Bath and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Carawan was predeceased by three brothers: Leroy Jordan, Leslie Jordan and Lewis Jordan and three sisters: Blanche Everette, Beulah Latham and Eloise Ball.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions be made to St. Clair's Church of Christ 9814 NC Hwy. 99 South Bath, NC 27808.
