Job Skills Training Summer Series at BCCC | Eastern NC Now

    WASHINGTON, N.C.     A series of job skill training classes will make it easier for participants to transfer into stable employment or gain the relevant skills to excel in their current position and even move ahead. These classes can cost $70, but they are free to qualifying individuals. Call 252-940-6375 to register.


    HRD: Resume/Interview Skills     This course provides hands-on experience as the interviewer and the interviewee in a panel format. Students will develop strategies to effectively answer a variety of questions and learn what it takes to land a job offer. It also covers resume organization and formatting, styles, and the role information technology plays in the job search in today's marketplace. Students complete the class with a resume they can use, one that showcases their skills and experience and the interview skills needed to land a job. There will be one class on Monday, June 10 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. A separate class will take place at the same time on August 12.

    HRD: Computers in the Workplace     This course prepares students to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite in the workplace. Students will learn how to create, edit, and save MS Word documents. Microsoft Excel covers how to store, organize, and analyze information in spreadsheets. Outlook, email and navigating the Internet will prepare students on how to create and manage and send emails and calendars. One class will take place June 17-June 20 from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. A separate class will take place from August 5-August 8.

    HRD: Pathway to Hospitality & Tourism Careers     This course provides students with the history of Beaufort County. Catherine Glover, of the Washington Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce brings the history of Beaufort County to the classroom. Students understand what makes Beaufort County such a tourism-friendly place. This growing industry employs people with a broad range of skills and interest, including guest services, hostess, facility maintenance, housekeeping, food services and security. Pursue your career goals and utilize your talents in the growing field. This class will take place July 8- July 11 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

    HRD: Pathway to Counseling/Human Services Careers     The Pathway to Counseling/Human Services program will provide basic skills training in case management and substance abuse services. The program will highlight skills used in counseling and human service careers such as: counseling, individual needs assessment, documentation, evaluation, client education, coordination of care planning and referrals. At the completion of the session, students may decide to register for the Continuing Education program offered in Substance Abuse Counseling Preparation offered Fall Semester 2019. This class will take place July 8-July 31 in the evenings from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

    HRD: Working Smart     Working Smart is a five-module curriculum taught over 24 hours. The five modules are: self-awareness, self-management, work ethics, com­munication skills, and problem-solving skills. This class prepares prospective job seekers for employment and equips individuals currently in the workforce seeking new opportunities. Individuals who complete the training with receive a program certification. This class will take place July 22-July 25 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
