Mrs. Mary Louise Whitman Doss | Eastern NC Now

   Mrs. Mary Louise Whitman Doss, 82, a resident of 6495 U.S. Highway 264 East, Greenville, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at her home.

   A funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Snowd Branch Church of God, 3283 VOA Road, Washington. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jerry Waters. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilmington National Cemetery.

   Mrs. Doss was born in Richland, Fla., on June 27, 1929, daughter of the late Ernest Whitman and the late Annie Edwards Whitman. She married David Doss on Sept. 27, 1945, who preceded her in death on May 19, 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Doss moved to Beaufort County in 1966. Mrs. Doss was a member of 15th Street Church of God. She counted it a pleasure to visit the sick and nursing home patients.

   Mrs. Doss is survived by a son, Richard David Doss and his wife Brenda of Greenville; two daughters, Patricia “Pat” Warren and her husband Randy of Greenville and Juanita D. Asby and her husband James “J.T.” of Washington; a brother, Albert Vurl Whitman of Auburndale, Fla.; a sister, Stella Boykin of Lakeland, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Doss was predeceased by a grandson, William “Shane” Waters and a great-grandson, Wesley “Lance” Bowers. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the funeral hour today at Snowd Branch Church of God and other times at the home.
