    Mr. James Thomas "Tom" Landen, age 79, a resident of Washington died Friday October 25, 2019 at his home.

    A graveside Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday November 1, 2019 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington officiated by Rev. Robert Belcher. Pallbearers will be James Landen, Chuck Landen Chad Landen, Jamie Landen, Dalton Toler and John Wehrenberg

    The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday October 31, 2019 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington. Pallbearers will be James Landen, Chuck Landen, Chad Landen, Jamie Landen, Dalton Toler and John Wehrenberg.

    Mr. Tom was born in Pitt County on October 18, 1940, son of the late Charlie and Mary Brown Landen. He attended Pactolus School. On March 2, 1962 he married the former Glenda Travis Edwards who preceded him in death on November 26, 2014. Along with his wife, Mr. Tom was a merchant having been the co-owner & co-operator of Pocahontas Trading Post and Mecca Pool Room, both of Washington. He was an excellent billiard who also enjoyed golf, but his main priority was his family. Mr. Tom was a member of Love Missionary Baptist Church in Washington.

    Survivors are three sons: James T. Landen, Jr. and Wife Donnell of Washington, Joseph Preston Landen of Land O Lakes, FL and Michael Scott Landen and his wife Dawn of Washington and five grandchildren: James Prescott Landen, Kayla Landen, Kyanna Landen, Callie Landen and Kennedy Landen. Mr. Tom was predeceased by two grandchildren: Donald Landen and Jillian Hope Landen.
