A Telling Tale of Two Embassies | Eastern North Carolina Now

American-directed force in Baghdad stopped this week's attack before protesters could breach a security entrance — unlike what went down in Benghazi

If any type of event and the response to it highlights the differences in honesty, intent, efficiency, and result between the two major American political parties in power, it is the vastly different outcomes between the attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya, in September of 2012 - and Tuesday's attack this week against the American embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.

In Libya, the Democrat administration of former President Barack Obama lied from the outset about the cause of the incident, falsely claiming it all started over a desecration to the Koran and backed by media toadies.

That was followed up by - after repeated requests for aid - the sacking of our diplomatic compound and the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other U.S. personnel.

Nothing typifies the Democrat tendency to cover for America's enemies, a habit of lying to the public, a hatred for our military, and the complete irresponsibility of the Democratic Party in power than does what happened in Benghazi in 2012.

And just to add a rancid cherry to that particular cake, on the last day of the Obama administration, the very people who helped orchestrate the death of U.S. personnel in Libya received a bonus of over $1 billion in palettes of cash. That money was courteously flown to Tehran on U.S. aircraft in the middle of the night.

That's right. It was a "thank you" from Barack Obama and his fellow Dems for the murder and mayhem directed at the United States.

Yet when Iranian-backed Iraqi Hezbollah mobs attacked our embassy in Baghdad this Tuesday, the response from the administration of our "America First" President Donald Trump and the result were as different as is possible.

The Trump administration made information about the event open and available.

No American was under any illusion as to what was going on and who and what started the chain of events leading up to Tuesday.

Specifically, the attack was Iranian revenge for a successful U.S. airstrike the other day that killed several of their proxies in Iraq.

Although The New York Times, in a headline, tried to describe the attackers as "mourners," it was obvious from the real-time images and video coming in from Baghdad that these radical Islamist militia members were not exactly feeling grief-stricken.

Instead of ignoring pleas for assistance, the Trump administration was not only prepared - having U.S. Marines and security personnel trained and capable of repulsing the attack - but it rushed 100 more Marines there within a short span of time.

This force stopped the attack cold before protesters could get past the first security entrance.

As opposed to the Benghazi crisis, in this week's case there were no American casualties - not one.

Once they saw they had no chance of winning after the strong U.S. defense of the embassy and the coming American reinforcements, the Islamic terrorists withdrew from their attack on Wednesday.

This is the day-and-night reality of our defense posture and national security between a Democrat who had been in the White House back then - and the Republican who's in the White House now.

Every American should consider this closely when voting in the November 2020 elections.
