    Mrs. Anna Desserree Williams Markland, age 83, a resident of Washington, passed away Sunday March 1, 2020 at her home.

    Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday March 4, 2020 at the Church of God of Prophecy and will be conducted by Rev. Albert Cliff, Rev. Donnie Hines, Rev. Jerry Barbee and John Cooper. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. J.R. Markland, Joshua Markland, Joey Woolard, Jordan Woolard, Allen Markland and Chris Martinez will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Markland was born on July 26, 1936 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Lee and Gladys Bowers Williams. On February 24, 1951 she married Hiram Brooks Markland Sr. who preceded her in death on November 27, 2000. Mrs. Markland was a member of Church of God of Prophecy for 51 years.

    Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Tate of Washington, Barbara Woolard of Washington, Anna Crisp and husband James of Washington, Nina Galland and husband Paul of Chocowinity; two sons, J.R. Markland Jr. of Washington, Richard Markland and wife Rhonda of Ayden; one brother, Jerry Cole of Tennessee; one sister, Kathy Harrell and husband Ronnie of Washington; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Guy Anthony Woolard; two brothers, Tom Cole, Dude Cole and two sisters, Rosie Floyd and Violet Sprague.

    In lieu of flower memorials, contributions may be made to the Church of God of Prophecy Missions, 6747 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, NC 27889.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday March 3, 2020 at the church and other times at the home located at 1029 Chocowinity Road Apt. 101.
