Doris Ann was born in Asheville on May 29, 1943, daughter of William Clayton Blankenship and Marion Virginia McCurry Blankenship who preceded her in death. She graduated from Valley Springs High School, Arden & Skyland, N.C., in 1962. She retired from Capt’n Buc’s Galley in Pantego, where she was manager for 25 years. On May 5, 1962, she married Garland Samuel Grant. They had two children, Garland Samuel Grant III and Kerrie Lanette Grant.
