    We encourage everyone to continue to monitor local media outlets for forecast developments, as well as any watches and / or warnings that may be issued.

    This will be the last update provided by the NWS and our office for this weather event.

    Good afternoon,

    The greatest severe weather potential has continued to shift southward, with mainly southern coastal sections remaining in a slight risk of severe storms overnight, mainly from late this evening into the early morning hours Friday. We still expect strong winds along the coast with dangerous marine conditions, large surf along the beaches and possibly minor flooding of very low lying areas along soundside OBX north of Buxton.
