   Mattie Foreman Ratcliff, 74, a former resident of Free Union Church Road, Pinetown, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Roanoke River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Williamston.

   A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Radcliffe Cemetery on Free Union Church Road in Pinetown, officiated by Mr. Chris Hux of Athens Church of Christ.

   Mrs. Ratcliff was born in Beaufort County on April 18, 1938, to the late Alphus Foreman and Mattie Sadler Foreman. She was married to James Carmer Ratcliff Sr., who preceded her in death on July 27, 2005. Mrs. Ratcliff worked for many years as a nursing assistant in nursing homes and doing private duty. She loved sewing, especially sewing dolls. Mrs. Ratcliff was a former member of Free Union Free Will Baptist Church.

   Mrs. Ratcliff is survived by a son, James Carmer Ratcliff Jr. and his wife Tina of Pinetown; two daughters, Patricia Ann Ratcliff of Washington and Tammy Everett and her husband Kenneth of Pinetown; a sister, Eva Foreman; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

   In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Ratcliff is preceded in death by four brothers, Alphus Foreman, Noah Foreman, William Foreman and Charles Foreman, and three sisters, Bertha Foreman, Julia Cleary and Ella Foreman.

   The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Kenneth Everett, 562 Monroe’s Lane, Pinetown.
