Would-Be President Kanye West Gives Bizarre Anti-Biden Interview | Eastern North Carolina Now

Singer Kanye West gave an interview to Forbes magazine that hit the stands on Wednesday. In it the rap mogul says things that have been written as comedy, written as support for the president, or written to portray West, perhaps in reality, as out of his mind.

His reason for running against the president, a man who he has strongly supported? Because West "caught wind that he hid in the bunker" during riots near the White House last month. The president has called the report false.

West announced his run for office recently with this tweet. He says he considers himself a Republican but will run as an Independent.

The interview was long and wide-ranging. But perhaps the key to it is this quote: "I was threatened as a Black man into the Democratic party. And that's what the Democrats are doing, emotionally, to my people. Threatening them to the point where this white man can tell a Black man if you don't vote for me, you're not Black."

This is a clear hit at the Democrats and Joe Biden. Notice the last line and the reference to Biden's disastrous interview with the radio host Charlamagne tha God.

West went on, "I'm not saying Trump's in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like come on man, please. You know? Trump's special. We say Kanye West is special. Joe Biden's not special." The reference to himself in the third person is a definite giveaway of self parody or delusional tendencies. But again, the hit on Biden takes center stage.

Thus the entire "run" for office could just be an effort to alienate black voters from Joe Biden and the Democrats. The rest of the interview is so bizarre as to give credence to that theory. West told the magazine that he is pro-life, pro-school prayer, and against the death penalty. Ok, all understandable political positions. Then he goes off the rails. Throughout the entire interview he repeatedly mentions the "Birthday Party." When finally asked what he means, West responds, "Because when we win, it's everybody's birthday." Ok then, right.

He also told the magazine that his campaign slogan will be "YES!" Yes to giving Donald Trump 40 percent of the black vote perhaps.

West has not made any moves to officially register as a candidate, he may be trying to avoid the stringent financial disclosure requirements, and will miss the filing deadlines in some states in less than a month. But West doesn't seem to care. Not exactly the attitude of a serious candidate. West also emphasized that he is pro-China and claims to have contracted coronavirus in February.

West said stopping police brutality is "[o]ne of my to-do lists," that he would manage the White House like the fictional country Wakanda from the movie "Black Panther," and that Black History Month is "torture porn." It goes downhill from there-or uphill depending on your sense of humor.

"When I become president -let me make some promises- the NBA will open all the way back up from Nigeria to Nanchang and the world will see the greatest athletes play. The world will experience the change in their element. The money is gonna come back. I love China. I love China. It's not China's fault that disease. It's not the Chinese people's fault. They're God's people also. I love China. It changed my life."

He has already picked his veep candidate. She is an unknown individual named Michelle Tidball, who the magazine termed "an obscure preacher from Wyoming."

West had said in 2018, "You don't have to agree with Trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother." If this ploy works as the president or his team may have designed it, and it increases Trump's share of the black vote by double digits, his brother may love him back even more.
