The following information is as of 8pm.
    Case Statistics

• NC has total 79,656 confirmed cases, with 1,477 deaths. Our state currently has 22,895 active cases and 1,034 hospitalizations.
• Beaufort County has had a total of 132 cases, with 32 currently active, and currently no hospitalizations. All 9 of our most recent cases were symptomatic at the time of their test. 8 of our last 15 cases were identified through contact tracing and have been attributed to having had contact with other known cases. 6 have been attributed to community spread, and 1 case is still under investigation. Thirty-five (35) of our total positives were asymptomatic at the time of their test. Investigation of these known cases have concluded:
  • (90) cases are attributed to direct contact with another known positive case.
  • (2) cases were related to travel to a known outbreak area.
  • (39) cases are attributed to community spread.
  • (1) case is still under investigation.
• All active cases are self-isolating.
• Eastern NC counties with total confirmed cases include: Bertie, (154), Beaufort (132), Bladen (419), Brunswick (727), Carteret (124), Camden (34), Chowan (31), Columbus (585), Craven (426), Currituck (22), Dare (87), Duplin (1,637), Edgecombe (363), Gates (29), Greene (196), Halifax (365), Hertford (174), Hyde (25), Jones (39), Lenoir (406), Martin (157), New Hanover (1,371), Northampton (211), Onslow (399), Pamlico (28), Pasquotank (233), Pender (330), Perquimans (37), Pitt (876) Sampson (1,149), Tyrrell (32), Washington (43), Wayne (1,942) and Wilson (875). Mecklenburg (13,757), Wake (6,704), and Durham (4,277) counties have the most cases.

    Testing

• There have been 2,697 tests completed in Beaufort County to date, with 2,453 negatives, 124 positives and 120 pending. (These are cumulative numbers and includes test performed at the Health Department and reporting private medical facilities throughout our county.) *Eight (8) of our positive cases were tested in other counties but are Beaufort Co. residents.*
• There were approximately 380 tests completed by Beaufort Co. agencies last week.

    Re-Opening Timeline / Guidelines     Below is a summary of our states plan for a phased reopening. Please note that these timelines / guidelines are subject to change based on case trends and / or additional executive orders.

    Phase II (Will begin at 5pm Friday, 5/22 and continue through 7/22)

    Governor Cooper has announced that North Carolina's Phase II "Safer at Home" order has been extended for 3 additional weeks (thru 7/22).

    Today's announcement also included an executive order requiring individuals above the age of 11 to wear a face covering while in public areas where social distancing cannot be maintained. Exceptions are permitted for those individuals with medical issues that prohibit the use these coverings.

• Lift the Stay-at-Home order. Restaurants and Personal Care Services must follow safety protocols including the potential need to reduce capacity (Bar & Fitness Centers will remain closed under Executive Order 141)
• Increase number of people allowed at gatherings
• Recommend face coverings in public spaces when 6 ft of distancing isn't possible.

    Phase III (Could begin June 26, 2020 and July 12, 2020.)

• Increased capacity at Restaurants, Bars, Other Businesses, Houses of Worship & Entertainment Venues.
• Further increase the number of people allowed at gatherings.
