The creator of the New York Times "1619 Project", Ida Bae Wells, has admitted it is not real history, but instead a "journalism project" to influence the present. Most of us would call that "ideological propaganda".

"I've always said that the 1619 Project is not a history. It is a work of journalism that explicitly seeks to challenge the national narrative and, therefore, the national memory. The project has always been as much about the present as it is the past.", Wells admitted.

The 1619 project is based on the old Soviet view of American history, claiming we started out based on slavery and discounting 1776 and the independence struggle. The New York Times is promoting using that Soviet propaganda as the basis for teaching history in American schools.

Sadly, we have US politicians going along with parts of this crap, like Congressman Greg Murphy supporting removal of historic monuments in the US Capitol.
