Poll Finds President Trump’s Silent Majority — They’re Abundant | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Most people know conservatives are undercounted in polls because they are not as loud and annoying as the Left and prefer to keep their opinions to themselves. In personal deportment that is admirable. But it can skew the hell out of polls. Ironically, a Cato Institute poll says just that.

    Well now, with the social price you pay in certain circles for being a Trump supporter, gee, I wonder who a majority of those 62% might be?

    Thus any presidential horse race poll you see from the major media may have up to 62% of the data missing. What does that say about its credibility? Given a majority of those (given the data here) are Republicans, how far away is Trump from Biden? Perhaps not far off at all, if not beating him. In case you're wondering, the Cato Institute is a well respected D.C. libertarian think tank.

    Amongst other data from the Cato report, "These fears cross partisan lines. Majorities of Democrats (52%), independents (59%) and Republicans (77%) all agree they have political opinions they are afraid to share." Welcome to the self-censorship of the cancel culture.

    "Strong liberals stand out, however, as the only political group who feel they can express themselves. Nearly 6 in 10 (58%) of staunch liberals feel they can say what they believe. However, centrist liberals feel differently. A slim majority (52%) of liberals feel they have to self‐​censor, as do 64% of moderates, and 77% of conservatives. This demonstrates that political expression is an issue that divides the Democratic coalition between centrist Democrats and their left flank." Hard-left types are loud, annoying, and bellow their opinions. They and the liberals don't get along on free speech. Not exactly a surprise.

    "The share of conservatives (who feel they have to self censor) rose 70% to 77%, also a 7 point increase. Strong conservatives are the only group with little change. They are about as likely now (77%) to say they hold back their views as in 2017 (76%)." They do so not only out of social and business pressure, but because they do not want to be among the likes of AOC and Tlaib-loud screeching idiots.

    "Self censorship is widespread across demographic groups as well. Nearly two thirds of Latin Americans (65%) and White Americans (64%) and nearly half of African Americans (49%) have political views they are afraid to share. Majorities of men (65%) and women (59%), people with incomes over $100,000 (60%) and people with incomes less than $20,000 (58%), people under 35 (55%) and over 65 (66%), religious (71%) and non religious (56%) all agree that the political climate prevents them from expressing their true beliefs." It's across the board. The Left's cancel culture is killing free speech in America. This next stat is the most frightening of all.

    "31% support firing a business executive who donates to Donald Trump's reelection campaign." That's right — express free thought with your wallet and lose your job. That's what the Left desires. And finally, no great astonishment here: Young leftists are the worst little fascists we have seen in this country since their hippy ancestors

    "Young Americans are also more likely than older Americans to support punishing people at work for personal donations to Trump. Forty‐​four percent (44%) of Americans under 30 support firing executives if they donate to Trump. This share declines to 22% among those over 55 years old-a 20 point difference." Yup, the Red Guard of the Democrats wants you silent and unemployed. Such is their regard for their fellow Americans.

    But this info may have a bracing effect on conservatives who have remained silent in the past, knowing now they are not alone and could indeed be this election's true silent majority. One voter and LifeZette reader, Tara Ragone-Dougherty, has this to say: "My husband and I had a long discussion about this last week. When I voted for Trump the first time, I did silently. When we went to the inauguration as a family, I was floored by the amount of negative comments I received. I kept my political comments to myself. When we left NY to move to Florida — I was done. Now IDGAF. I'm not silent anymore."
