John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School teachers wave goodbye to students for the 2011-2012 school year and wish them a wonderful and safe summer!
The Heat Was On At WHS
Marie Swann’s Advanced Placement Chemistry Class at Washington High School was the place to be on May 29 if you were looking for fun and excitement! Students from her class preformed cool and informative science demonstrations for third grade students from John Cotten Tayloe School. Third graders were amazed at the scientific demonstrations which sparked many questions and comments. There will definitely be some future scientist in Beaufort County because of this event!

Barbara Dell Carter Named Teacher of the Year!
John Cotten Tayloe 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year, Amanda Van Staalduinen congratulates and presents the 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year award to Barbara Dell Carter. Carter teaches second grade at JCT. The award was presented during the End of Year Celebration Lunch.

Brandon Moore greeted students and parents at John Cotten Tayloe’s PTA night on Tuesday, May 1st. Brandon was one of the third grade class ambassadors for the night.
Mrs. Collins’s third grade students at John C. Tayloe School had a blast showing their strength at the Tug of War during Field Day on Friday, April 22nd.
Third grade students in Augusta Batchelor’s Enrichment Class at John Cotten Tayloe School have been researching all about Barn Owls. The students had fun dissecting owl pellets and creating cool owl posters!

Justin Reynolds visited Betsy Lee Hodges’ third grade class with his Nicaraguan Boa and Bearded Dragon. Katelyn, who is in Hodges’ class, assisted her dad as he informed the class about their two beautiful reptiles. The children were able to learn about their habitats and character traits.
Reynolds stressed that with every new pet purchased; he buys a book about the animal so that he is well informed about the animal’s needs. We all agreed, reading and learning will be a big part of our entire life!
