On Saturday, in the throes of America's turbulent 2020 election, thousands of Christians gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for the inaugural National Day of Prayer and Return, a calling to repentance and prayer for healing.

Dueling rallies and worship services on either side of the Washington Monument attracted crowds of thousands.     Commentary

We commend Rep. Kidwell for organizing this event in Beaufort County. We hope everyone will make a point to attend and get others to do so likewise.

We really believe this approach is not only the best way to save our nation, it is perhaps the only way it will be done. We sincerely believe one of the major reasons we are in the mess we are in is that We The People have turned away from God and that never has good consequences. We must return to God not only for our own salvation but for the salvation of our nation.

We also hope every pastor will attend and that the event will be supported in every church in Beaufort County. Please consider sending a link to this story to your pastor to be sure not only that he/she knows about the event but that you support it. Our pastors simply must take the lead in this Great Awakening. This is no time for weakness. Christians must stand up and lead our nation to repentance.

God bless Keith Kidwell, Franklin Graham and all the other leaders behind this movement.
