    Michael Emmett Malloy, age 77, of Washington NC, husband of Joyce Elizabeth Malloy died Monday October 26 at home with his family by his side.

    A Funeral Mass will be held at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church 112 West 9th St. Washington NC on Friday, October 30 at 11:00am.

    Michael was born March 30, 1943 in Sturgis Michigan. He was the son of the late Patrick and Geraldine Mary Malloy. Michael served in the United States Navy for 4 years. He later worked as an electrician for Northeast Utilities in CT retiring after 32 years. He and Joyce were married for 53 years.

    He is survived by his son Patrick and his wife Dara Malloy of Northfield CT and daughter Erin (Malloy) Qualter and her husband Mark Qualter of Lunenburg VT. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary (Malloy) Cruess and Patricia (Malloy) White.

    The family would like to thank Community Home Care and Hospice as well as Dr. Inzerillo and the entire staff at the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center for the wonderful care he received. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
