A bumper turn out, one of the largest in years, met for The Third Congressional Republican District meeting July 7 at Kings Restaurant in Kinston NC

Bob Pruett opened the meeting with a rousing response to replace President Obama. The recent ruling by the US Supreme Court and the defection of Justice Roberts has helped to energize the Republican Party. They do not want Obama Care and they do not want an Obama America.

This District Meeting brought together over 65 movers and shakers attendees of County Chairman, Vice-Chairman, members at large and State Candidates for the 3rd District. All were fired up and ready to work together for more transparence in our State and Federal Government and to get better representation for the people. Ninety nine percent of the people there are tired of machine politics.

Among the several candidates that spoke was Mattie Lawson for House of Representatives. She expressed herself well in explaining why she wanted to represent her district. She is for more effective oversight, less intrusion by the EPA, more protection of our individual rights, securing the needs of her district and giving the East a voice in Raleigh. She explained that is not about her, but "it is about the future of my and your grandchildren." She received a resounding applause.

Bill Tarpenning spoke for Arthur Williams who was conspicuously absent as he was for the District Convention held earlier this year. Bill's punch line was "Arthur can bring home the bacon." A few people applauded.

Representative George Cleveland explained some of the accomplishments of the just concluded Short Session. The Republicans have been able to lead the charge in eliminating some of the EPA rules that have been choking the progress of our State. He explained that the bill endorsing Fracking in North Carolina has realistic environmental protections and he is working to clean up portions of the law dealing with the Coastal Resource Commission.

Dan Forest for Lieutenant Governor and Mike Causey for Insurance Commissioner had strong spokesmen and it was evident that the Third District wants to break up the culture of corruption that has gone on in Raleigh with the likes of Jim Black, Mike Easley, Bevery Perdue etc and they do not want to replace them with new Political Hacks.

Larry Herwig from Beaufort County was elected a new member at large for the 3rd District Executive Committee. Larry has been an untiring worker for Bill Cook as Senator and the real sparkplug for many Republican events.

Victory Centers for Mitt Romney are being set up in the east and the nearby ones for Beaufort County will be Greenville and Edenton which held Grand Openings today.

It was decided that the 2013 3rd Congressional District GOP Convention will be held in Morehead City.

Republicans have run against pork barrell politics for years. Clearly Williams is still a Democrat in spirit and hasn't figured that out. Williams is a coward who refuses to show his face at Republican meetings. I guess Williams is afraid of being asked about his support for Obama for President in 2008 and his support for Obamacare when it was going through Congress in 2009. Bill Tarpening as a spokesman? I am surprised Williams didn't send his jailbird buddy Jim Black.

Wonderful narrative in that video Harvey.

As a Conservative, I never have been able to reconcile that whole "bringing home the bacon" thing.
