    Mr. Michael John Schatz, age 69, a resident of 106 Sunnyside Drive, Washington, died Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2020 at his home.

    Mr. Schatz was born in Concord, New Hampshire on April 14, 1951. He was the son of the late Frederick Harold Schatz and Nora Vanyo Schatz. Mr. Schatz was a retired salesman with Crisp RV Center. He was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club and coached many of their sports teams. In his spare time, Mr. Schatz enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

    On May 19, 1972, Mr. Schatz married the former Barbara White, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Erica Schatz Caracoglia and her husband, John of Greenville; son, Jonathan Thomas Schatz and wife, Mary Jane of Simpson; four grandchildren, Elijah Schatz, Ava Caracoglia, Dylan Caracoglia, Maddox Tucker; two brothers, Robert Schatz of Washington, Jim Schatz of Ocala, FL and several nieces and nephews.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, N.C. 27889.
