    Rev. Claude Eugene "Gene" Scarborough, Jr., age 74, a resident of 1085 Bayview road, Bath, died Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home.

    Due to the pandemic, no services will be held.

    Rev. Scarborough was born in Greenville County, S.C. on March 23, 1946. He was the son of the late Claude Eugene Scarborough, Sr. and Lucretia Williams Scarborough. Rev. Scarborough served as a full-time minister for over 35 years. He later operated his own tree service. He enjoyed working in his yard in his spare time and spending time with his grandchildren.

    On August 25, 1968, he married the love of his life Lonya Mayo, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are his son, Eddie Scarborough and wife, Micki and their son, Tyler and daughter, Cierra of Bath; his daughter, Sara Scarborough Waters and her sons, TC Taylor, Jackson Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Gavyn Taylor and his sister, Carol Sandusky and husband, Chuck of Georgia.

    In addition to his parents, Rev. Scarborough was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Scarborough and his sister, Martha Scarborough Stephens.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930- B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.
