Gallop poll finds 60% of Americans do not trust the media

The Gallup poll has been showing for some time that Americans do not trust Big Media, with the most recent poll showing 60% distrust it.  Gallup polls annually on that subject.

Now another annual poll that looks at trust in media, but has had results more favorable to media in the past, has found that a majority of Americans do not trust it.  Edelman's Annual Trust Barometer has found that only 46% of Americans trust the major media, with most of those who trust it being Democrats. Fifty-six percent of Americans said journalists are “purposely trying to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations.”  Fifty-eight percent agreed that most media outlets were “more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than informing the public.”

Social media is also not trusted, with only 27% saying they trust material posted on Facebook and Twitter.  Outside of America, that figure was 35%.
