    Evelyn Payne Snow, age 54, a resident of 719 West Main Street, Washington, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Washington, conducted by Father Kevin Johnson. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Kenneth S. Snow, Jr., Samuel O. Snow, Jay M. Hodges III, Claud G. Hodges, R. Alan Jordan, and Frank DeMartin.

    Evelyn was born in Washington on August 5, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Thomas S. Payne, Jr. and Evelyn Glenn Payne. A graduate of Washington High School, Evelyn attended Beaufort County Community College and East Carolina University. She worked as Registrar at the Beaufort County Health Department. Evelyn was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the Stratford Book Club, The National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina and a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.

    She is survived by her son, Samuel Payne Snow of Washington; and her two brothers, Thomas S. Payne III of Washington and Charles G. Payne of Winterville.

    The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour Tuesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church and other times at the home.
