George Allen Boyd | Eastern NC Now

    George Allen Boyd, age 71, a resident of 86 B & B Lane, Blounts Creek, NC, died Monday, August 6, 2012, at his home.

    A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Edward Christian Church officiated by Pastor David Linton.

    Burial will follow in Warren Memorial Cemetery in Blounts Creek. Brian Warren, Mayhew Banks, Frank Richards, Jr., Jesse Kinnion, Steve Brewer and Johnny Tripp will serve as pallbearers.

    Mr. Boyd was born in Aurora on June 1, 1941, son of the late George Allen Boyd and the late Alice Winifred Lee Boyd. He was a graduate of Aurora High School and continued his education at a diesel mechanic technical school in Tennessee. Mr. Boyd married the former Betty Lou Fleming on September 5, 1964, who preceded him in death on February 17, 2006. He was a member of Edward Christian Church.

    Survivors include a son: Gregory Boyd and his wife Regina of Washington; a daughter: Genna B. Leary and her husband Shane of Washington; a mother-in-law: Mary Fleming of Blounts Creek; a special friend: Jeannette Rowe; two sisters: Maxine B. Kinnion and Opal R. Nixon, both of Blounts Creek, and five grandchildren: Matthew Boyd, Schyler Boyd, Lindsay Boyd, Connor Leary and Elizabeth Grace Leary. Mr. Boyd is predeceased by his parents, wife and a stepbrother: George Allen Rowe.

    The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
