Mrs. Lorine Allen Gray | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Lorine Allen Gray, age 96, a resident of the Wenona Community of Pantego, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Roanoke Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Plymouth.

    Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Wenona Church of Christ and will be conducted by Phillip Paul. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Jack Dunbar, Talmadge Cooper, Jonathan Allen, Joe Allen, Charles Rose and Allen Phelps will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Gray was born in Beaufort County on December 7, 1915, to the late William and Ina Elizabeth Dunbar Allen. She married William Lelon Gray who preceded her in death in 1978. She was a nurse, caretaker and was a member of Wenona Church of Christ.

    Survivors include one daughter, Alice Faye Gray Sawyer of Plymouth; four sons, Robert "Bobby" Gray of Zebulon, Lowell "Tommy" Gray of Wenona, Michael Allen Gray and wife Elaine of Plymouth, Joel Monroe Gray and wife Reba of Little Rock, AR; two brothers, Frank Allen and wife Mary Jane and Ronald Allen of the Pungo Community of Pantego; one sister, Mildred Brown of Florida; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson Allen and Arnold Allen and one sister, Elizabeth Tooley.

    The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

    Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
