Miss Susan A. Buckman, age 34, a resident of Washington, NC died Sunday May 30, 2021 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Pastor Thad Tankard.

To know Susan was to love her, she was a joy to all she met. Susan had the sweetest, tenderest spirit and most contagious smile. Her life was a testimony to the goodness of God and she brought her family so much joy. She taught us all to focus on what truly matters in life. The simplest of things made her so happy. Christmas was her absolute favorite time of year and she would enjoy her Christmas music all year long. She loved her baby dolls, stuffed tiggers and rides to town to get something to eat. Most of all she loved her family. We hope to carry on her legacy and honor her by blessing those who may need Christmas Joy.

Susan was born in Beaufort County on February 8, 1987, daughter of Kent Buckman, Jr., and Beth Cutler Buckman. She attended Montessori Preschool in Washington and was a 2007 graduate of Washington High School. She worshiped at Harvest Church of Washington.

Surviving along with her parents, Kent and Beth of the home includes a brother: Wilson Buckman of Washington; a sister: Katherine Buckman Deatherage and her husband Stanhope of Washington: Nieces and nephews: Amelia Deatherage, Henry Deatherage, Thaddeus Deatherage, and Mary Claire Deatherage all of Washington; Maternal grandparents: Marshall and Linda Cutler of Pantego; paternal grandparents: Kent and Sandra Buckman of Washington; aunt and uncles: Lisa and Robert Williams, Sarah and Steve Gruninger, Zane and Dawn Buckman, and Nina Buckman all of Washington and Paul and Angela Buckman of Wilmington; cousins: Cutler Respess, Corson Buckman, Grayson Gruninger, Carly Buckman and Micah Gruninger.
