September 19, 1927 – June 17, 2021
    Mrs. Ruby Lee Tetterton Slade, age 93, a resident of Washington, NC died Thursday June 17, 2021 at River Trace Nursing Center in Washington.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday June 20, 2021 at St. Clair's Church of Christ Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Craig Hagen. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m.. Saturday June 19, 2021 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    Mrs. Ruby was born in Beaufort County on September 19, 1927, daughter of the late Lloyd Sylvester Tetterton and the late Lucy Elizabeth Watson Tetterton. She was a graduate of Bath High School. On January 8, 1949 she married Cecil Ray Slade who preceded her on March 13, 2008. She worked several jobs in the florist business but most of her life she dedicated her time to her family as a homemaker. Mrs. Ruby was a member of Kempsville Church of Christ while living in Virginia and was currently a member of St. Clair's Church of Christ.

    Survivors include her children: Lloyd Ray Slade (Merrily) of Washington, Linda C. Slade of Washington, and David Lee Slade of Spanish Fort AL; Grandchildren: Benjamin Slade, Orry Slade, Kimberly Woolard, Mindy Kindaid, Cora Slade Colton Slade and Lola Slade and great grandchildren: Kristina Slade, Autumn Slade, Kelsey Slade, Steven Woolard, and Carson Kincaid. Mrs. Ruby was predeceased, along with her parents and husband by grandsons: Lloyd R. Slade, Jr. and Matthew Thomas Slade; brothers: Julius Tetterton, J.T. Tetterton and Lloyd Nicholson Tetterton; and sisters: Mary Gurganus and Mamie Ange Nobles.

    Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to St. Clair's Church of Christ, 9814 NC Hwy. 99 S. Bath, NC 27808.
