Another EU country deploys its military to stop illegal alien migrants | Eastern North Carolina Now

Lithuania is the latest European country to deploy its military forces to the border to stop migration by illegal aliens.  This comes only a few weeks after the country's conservative Homeland Union led government announced that it would be building a border wall to stop illegal aliens entering Lithuania.  The government also denounced the actions of neighboring Belarus in assisting illegal migration by people from Third World countries into Lithuania.

Legislation to authorize the measures against illegal migration won support across the spectrum, with most opposition parties rallying to support the government on it,.  Only two members of parliament voted against the legislation.  The measure also provided that illegal aliens apprehended could be treated as participants in hybrid aggression by Belarus against Lithuania and detained indefinitely.

Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Macedonia, Hungary, and the UK have also deployed military forces, sometimes accompanied by armored units and special forces, to their borders during migration crises.   Australia succeeded in a military led effort during the tenure of former conservative Prime Minister Tony Abbott in identifying, boarding, and turning around migrant boats at sea before they reaching Australian waters.
